Sudan is undergoing a historic transitional period, grappling with unprecedented challenges following the April 15, 2023 war. In this context, the Institute is issuing an open call to thought leaders, researchers, activists, politicians, citizens, and other stakeholders to share objective and serious insights and perspectives on Sudan’s current situation and future.

Objectives of the Call:

  • Analyzing the causes of the crisis: Providing a deep understanding of the root causes that led to the April 15, 2023 war.
  • Envisioning the future: Presenting innovative visions for building a fair, democratic, and stable state.
  • Proposing practical solutions: Suggesting actionable solutions applicable to the current context and beyond.
  • Defining conditions for dialogue: Outlining political and technical prerequisites for foundational dialogue in Sudan.

Key Themes:

  1. Political Dimensions:
    1. Building a democratic political system
    1. Establishing the principle of separation of powers
    1. Strengthening institutional governance
    1. The role of political parties, civil society, armed groups, and local communities
  2. Economic Dimensions:
    1. Reconstruction efforts
    1. Sources of national and local income
    1. Combating corruption
    1. Promoting social justice
  3. Social Dimensions:
    1. Social cohesion
    1. Tolerance and coexistence
    1. Human rights
    1. Empowering women and youth
  4. Security Dimensions:
    1. The armed forces
    1. Rapid Support Forces
    1. Armed movements
    1. Ensuring security and stability
    1. Countering terrorism, including former regime militias

Participation Guidelines:

  • Articles or series of articles must be original and unpublished.
  • Submissions should address one or more of the specified themes.
  • Articles must be written in proper Arabic or English.
  • Submissions should not exceed 1,200 words.
  • Deadline for submission: December 31, 2024.

Submission Process:
Please send articles to info@sudanpolicy.org. Submissions will be reviewed within five business days to ensure compliance with the guidelines. Articles will then be published promptly on the Institute’s blog, Sudanology.

As part of its commitment to peacebuilding and justice, the Institute will host an official ceremony in the second week of January 2025 to announce the Article of the Year.
